Hannibal Barca (in Phoenician Hanni-baal means "who has the favor of Baal" and Barca, "lightning"), born in Carthage (northeast of present-day Tunis in Tunisia) and died by suicide in Bithynia (near the current Bursa in Turkey), is a Carthaginian general and politician, generally considered to be one of the greatest military tacticians in history.
